Extra Resources
Hi all!
Ms. Chafe and I really appreciate those of you willing to participate and share in today's discussion. We especially appreciated some of the questions and comments that came as a result of topics broached today. We know that conversations about ourselves, race, gender, and identity can be some of the most difficult to have. Here are some resources that may be helpful:
Let's Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable
I Want to Make Students Uncomfortable
Three Miles Podcast
Lastly, I'd like to remind you of something important: you and your experiences matter. Your experiences real and have impacted you in ways you may not even be aware of yet. But, your experiences don't translate into a universal truth, meaning, what's true and real for you may not be true and real for everyone. This is why it's so important to share ourselves and experiences with each other; it builds empathy for those who are different and builds trust with those who are similar.
Do you have additional thoughts on this or other things we've discussed? E-mail me or Ms. Chafe. If you'd like to comment anonymously, drop a note off with another team teacher or Ms. Toohey and have them put it in my mailbox.
